Creation of a heuristic model to optimize the whole Nylon left over produced in the factory of Ducilo, a subsidiary of Dupont de Nemours. We attacked the problem in two fronts: the cutting optimization and the machines patrolling optimization. The first was dealt via Linear Programming techniques but the second was faced via heuristic simulation. The results were so important in terms of saving that this second approach was selected as Major Paper in one of the annual IBM World Trade Systems Engineering Congresses.
